Actor Training, Further and Higher Education:

Jan 2014–present    Sessional lecturer and tutor, teaching off-campus students on the Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Applied Theatre, University of New England. Subjects include: Australian Drama on Stage, The Role of the Director, The Actor’s Craft, Speaking in Public, The Entrepreneurial Theatre-Maker.

2013                            Research for the Theatre and Music departments of University of New England into Creative Practice as Research at Undergraduate level and benchmarking creative Capstone Units nationally and internationally.

2010                            Private Voice and Audition Coaching – Clients gained positions at VCA and roles on local film, Melbourne

2000-01                     Private Voice & Audition Preparation Training: clients gained places at a number of leading London drama schools including: LAMDA, Guildhall School of Speech & Drama, Webber Douglas, Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama, and Arts Ed.

2000-01                     Drama Lecturer – Hampshire Foundation Acting Course and BTEC National Diploma, Course Co-Ordinator of GNVQ Performing Arts – Queen Mary’s College (UK): developed, wrote and delivered courses in Acting Styles & Techniques, Voice, Devising Theatre & Direction (focusing on practitioners that challenge the actor/audience relationship). Devised and delivered the entry audition process for the actor training course.

1992                            Teacher of ‘Self Awareness Through Drama’ course for adults with disabilities at the Coorparoo TAFE for the FIRST Organisation.

2011                            Extended School Residency Program (Australia Council/Arts Vic/Vic Education Dept): Ballerrt Mooroop College – researched, wrote and delivered Using the Arts Across the Curriculum

2006 – 2009             Researched, wrote and delivered Pilot Program for Catholic Education (ACT & Regional NSW) – Professional Learning: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Arts Education for Integrated Learning

Researched, wrote and delivered for the ACT Department of Education – a range Professional Development workshops for educators across primary, secondary and early childhood sectors including: Using the Arts To Improve Literacy, Why Play Drama Games?, Voice Work for Teachers, Group-devised Theatre, and Directing for Beginners

2004-05                            Education Consultant Jersey Arts Centre (UK): researched, wrote and developed Teachers’ Resources and accompanying workshop for touring production of Secret Weapons to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jersey’s Liberation in WWII and Once Upon an Island about the history of Jersey.

1996                            Artist in Residence – Sunshine Beach School

1994                            As Education Officer for the Queensland Theatre Company, I researched and wrote all curriculum resource material attached to the mainhouse season of plays and managed all Education programmes.

1992                            Drama consultant at Richlands SHS for the Senior English Program to increase learning outcomes with ESL (English as a second language) and Indigenous students

1992                            Inserviced staff at Richlands SHS and Macgregor SHS – using extended role-plays to explore Shakespearean texts with ESL students and assessing in the new Drama syllabus

1992-93                       Conducted professional development workshops for QADIE (Qld Association of Drama in Education Teachers)

1989-92                       Directed and produced numerous productions and led performance based workshops for young people aged 5 –18 years with existing texts, devising new works and cross artform pieces for youth theatres in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
